At any given moment, there are numerous legal matters that should keep Donald Trump up at night. One of the big ones, of course, is the criminal investigation into his attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Another? The hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election, which a grand jury recently started to hear evidence about and which could result in the ex-president doing up to four years in prison.
Obviously, a number of things need to happen for Trump to actually be put behind bars, including the not-insignificant hurdles of his being convicted and, before that, actually charged with a crime. But it appears things are definitely moving in that general direction.
Per ABC News:
Last December, Bragg’s office scored a legal win when the Trump Organization was found guilty of numerous felonies, including tax fraud, conspiracy, and falsifying business records. Before his meeting on Wednesday, Cohen told reporters an indictment for Trump was “on the tarmac and ready to take off.”
While Trump has consistently denied having an affair with Daniels, he has admitted to reimbursing Cohen for the $130,000 payment he made to her.
No big deal, just Elon Musk apparently ruining a person’s life
