JC Daniel, who is known as the father of Malayalam cinema, was searching for a female lead for his film ‘Vigathakumaran’ during the late 1920’s. The filmmaker’s friend Johnson, who also played the villain in the film, suggested Rosy’s name. Though Rosy was thrilled, she was skeptical of how society would react. Rosy’s family, who, at the time, was working in a church, gave her to go-ahead, as the wages JC Daniel offered were better.
